Cainiao opens two new warehouses in Europe as global supply chain expands
Cainiao, a global leader in e-commerce logistics, has opened two new warehouses in Paris, France, and Mannheim, Germany, further expanding its global supply chain network in Europe.
The new facilities are designed to support bulky goods storage and local delivery services, and the first shipments have already been received. Since April, Cainiao has opened seven new warehouses across Europe, including in the Netherlands, France, Spain, Poland, the UK and Germany.
The Mannheim warehouse is Cainiao’s second in the city. It covers more than 20,000 square meters, with an additional 40,000 square meters reserved for future expansion. Located near Frankfurt, the Mannheim site is able to work with Cainiao’s other warehouses in Germany to support large-scale inventory replenishment. For merchants selling on Amazon, it is also close to the company’s central distribution hub, which could help improve delivery efficiency.
The Paris warehouse is Cainiao’s fourth in the city and its second new facility there since April. It is about 15 kilometers from Charles de Gaulle Airport and provides bulky goods storage and local delivery services. Cainiao is also introducing new technologies in Europe, including climbing robots and AI-based products, to improve supply chain efficiency.
“Demand for logistics and supply chain services in Europe continues to grow, and we see significant room for further expansion in the market. What we are seeing is a shift from simple transportation to more integrated supply chain needs. Merchants are increasingly looking for solutions that can help them position inventory closer to end customers, improve delivery speed, and maintain service consistency across markets. Europe, with its cross-border complexity and strong e-commerce potential, is a market where these capabilities matter even more,” said Chen Taotao, vice president and general manager of Cainiao’s global supply chain division.
The company now operates more than 70 overseas warehouses across 18 countries and regions, as its global supply chain business continues to expand rapidly.
